KitchenAid Mixer Mega Post
Why consider the KitchenAid Artisan Mixer? Come on, there must be loads of stand mixers available, what is so special about the KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer?
OK, my skeptical young grasshopper, let’s take a closer look at the KitchenAid Artisan, what is under the hood if you will.

Now, you’re probably wondering what can this bad boy do? Glad you asked.
Hope you’re not going to ask can it handle jobs like a cake mix – please that’s child’s play. Not only can it do cake mixes, with ease, but how about a real challenge, things like cookie dough, pizza dough, bread dough – arm-breaking stuff. Yep, that poses no problems whatsoever. It may be hard to imagine just how taxing it is to mix dough by hand, so just try it and see if you can stick with it until the end. It is extremely hard on your hands, arms, shoulders, back, etc. I learned this the hard way. My hands took a beating. So, I looked for a reliable piece of equipment to help me out.
I had always heard that KitchenAid appliances hold up very well over time. And so far so good. Ours is going strong since about 2000 or 2001. That brings me to another point, how much time do you spend researching products before purchasing them? It has gotten absolutely ridiculous. It is next to impossible to find products that work as described, that won’t blow up with normal use, that will work more than a few times before giving out, that won’t have you on tech support for weeks on end, that don’t require you to order replacement parts that are always on back order, and so forth. If you want to avoid those nightmares, then you will have to do proper research.
Well, the good news is the KitchenAid Artisan 5 quart Stand Mixers are top notch. It is rare to find a line of products that gets nearly 5 out of 5 stars consistently. You just don’t see that these days. In fact, out of well over 1,930 people gave it 4.7/5.0. That is impressive!
Here are a few testimonials from real people. See what they think.
| 5.0 out of 5 stars KitchenAid Mixer Best in the World, May 10, 2009
By Glen A. Ritter (Shreveport, LA) – (REAL NAME) This review is from: KitchenAid KSM152PSNK Custom Metallic Series 5 Quart Mixer, Brushed Nickel (Kitchen) Recently reviewed the purchase of this mixer in white that I bought for my daughter. I purchased this one for my wife, it is our second one. The first I bought for her 29 years ago. I bought it in white back then. The first one has been used regularly because my wife is a very good cook. We kept waiting for the old one to die, well with KitchenAid, that never happens. So after 32 years of marriage I bought her the Brushed Nickel KSM152PSNK. If you do not have a KitchenAid mixer and you like to cook, you need one. Spend the money and buy one. I know we will get at least 32 years of service from our new one. |
| 5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Fabulous, August 17, 2011
By J.Pants (USA) This review is from: KitchenAid KSM155GBCA Artisan Design Series 5-Quart Mixer, Candy Apple (Kitchen) I’ve been using this mixer for over one year now and have no complaints. I bake part time and use it almost every single day. Clean up is simple, the glass bowl is gorgeous. I like being able to see if any ingredients are not incorporated. I like to leave it on my counter for my guests to admire, its almost like a decoration. Everyone says how pretty it is. Definitely worth the price. |
| 5.0 out of 5 stars Just Awesome!, August 12, 2011
By Balula This review is from: KitchenAid KSM155GBCA Artisan Design Series 5-Quart Mixer, Candy Apple (Kitchen) This is my first Kitchen Aid mixer of my own, and how beautiful! For one, the candy apple looks lovely on my counter top. The nice glossy coating gives a nice shine to it. I have been using Kitchen Aid mixers my whole life as my mother has always had one, and I have to say that this design is quite elegant. The new attachments are very light weight and the big glass bowl is a fun aspect. It does add a little something to be able to watch the contents mix from the outside. A wonderful addition to my kitchen! |
| 5.0 out of 5 stars Copper Lovers Dream Mixer, May 8, 2009
By Ginger (La Canada, CA) This review is from: KitchenAid KSM152PSCP Custom Metallic Series 5-Quart Mixer, Satin Copper (Kitchen) Only a true Kitchen Aid mixer fan would buy so many of these. I started out over twenty years ago with a cream one, traded, then got the 5 qt industrial gray and gave it to my sister, then a black 5 qt which my husband gave to a friend because he felt we didn’t need two, and my favorite, this one. I also gave a cobalt blue 5 qt to my brother in law although he rarely cooks and often works in Belgium and Japan; and a bright red one for another friend. I sold commercial restaurant equipment for 17 years and their products were essential to our business so I write from more than personal experience. For my home with cherry cupboards the rich copper mixer earns a place on my counter. This is a hard working and beautiful companion in the kitchen especially if you can’t afford the space or price of its larger model. I will be getting the new sweep batter paddle for it next since I already have grinders, juicers and every other attachment. Just remember these are very heavy and should go on the counter rather than on a shelf or in the garage. Use the paddle for mixing heavy batters and the dough hook for bread. Don’t get stuck using just the wire whisk for everything. I keep all the paddles in the bowl. |
These are a few people that have grown to love an appreciate the many years of good service. Of course there is nothing that is perfect, people will find problems – real or imaginary – you will see complaints, but overall 4.7 or 4.8 out of 5 is excellent.
Probably your biggest problem will be how to decide which KitchenAid mixer to get. That is a tough one. When I got mine I needed something in a hurry and ended up with a white unit. If I had known about all of these fantastic rich colors, who knows I might have spent ages trying to decide and may have come home with two: the dark blue units are gorgeous (Cobalt Blue and Electric Blue), but the red units are wonderfully bold and sassy (Candy Apple Red and Empire Red). Then of course you have browns, whites, blacks, grey, yellow, green, orange, and on and on.
That’s why we made the big-a$$ chart for you. This is a time saver, all the fabulous colors on one page.
Well, there you have it. Tons of wonderful colors to choose from to make a lifetime of memories for you and the whole family. You know, a few years ago we had options such as buy ready-made or make it home-made, but today with all of the allergies, other health problems, and poor food sources that are chemically laden, homemade is the safest option.
KitchenAid Accessories
We also recommend the following two accessories, which will let you do even more jobs with your KitchenAid stand mixer:
This all-metal Grain Mill attachment grinds wheat, oats, corn, rice, and other low-moisture, low-oil grains. Using freshly milled grains brings a hearty taste and texture to your baked goods. When you bake with home ground flour you will get all of the good you could possibly get from a grain. Choose from ‘cracked’ to extra-fine consistency. Includes a cleaning brush.
The most versatile stand mixer now allows you to practice authentic Italian cooking with this Ravioli Maker Attachment from KitchenAid! The specially designed rollers pinch and seal any filling into large pockets to create exquisite, homemade ravioli. The 6 inch wide roller is designed to accommodate and compliment pasta sheets produced by the Pasta Roller (sold separately). The special filling scoop spreads filling into corners of the easy hopper for even distribution. Comes with a 1-year warranty and is dishwasher safe.
Here, are the type of questions we usually get.
